Why This Day Is Special?

National Creativity Day is celebrated on May 30 to honor the power of imagination and to encourage people to be creative in their everyday lives. Creativity is a valuable skill that can be used in all areas of life, from work to relationships to personal growth.

A Little History

The term "creativity" has evolved over time. In ancient Greece, the word "poiein" meant "to make," and it was associated with poetry. During the Renaissance, creativity flourished in various fields, including art, science, and philosophy. In 2018, Hal Croasmun and ScreenwritingU founded National Creativity Day to celebrate the imaginative spirits everywhere and to encourage them to keep creating.

How Can We Celebrate?

Step 1: Create a Sidewalk Obstacle Course - Using chalk, wood planks, and just about anything from backyard twigs to cardboard boxes, you can create an exciting obstacle course for your children to explore. Tailor the obstacle course to fit your child’s needs.

Step 4: Tie-Dye T-Shirts and Other Goodies -  If your kids are particularly into drama or singing, why not put on a little show? You can film the show to share or let parents and stuffed animals be the audience.
